I recently saw a line of WWII miniatures which were sculpted at 28mm scale, digitally. These miniatures were a third again larger than these, by scale. If the German infantry had had no boots on, you’d think they were hobbits. As it was, they could pass for dwarves with particularly BAD leadership. The problems with those miniatures weren’t the 3D prints. The problem was the initial sculpts. They were not realistic, or proportionate. They were far to ‘squat and nobby’!

THAT is exactly what mesmerizes me about Sojers. These were hand-sculpted, they were sculpted in 20mm, and they hold to realistic proportions. The sculpts are crisp and detailed. They’re just beautiful. I can find absolutely NO fault with them.

My point? It is possible – even with the aid of computers – to sculpt ones’ miniatures WRONG. Sojers were sculpted RIGHT, from the start. Closeup photography has me thinking I’m looking at 30mm castings. I can see from the pics that details like the German gas mask case, or the American canteen will be clearly-sculpted and easy to pick out while painting.

Honestly, I thought I was going to admire these from afar, but I DO have a 20mm WWII project. Dang… I see another order to East Front, in the works!
